NIKE+ HUMAN RACE 10K RESULTS – MY 1ST 10K BTW :-)

First off..I HAD A FREAKIN’ BLAST!! This would have to be chalked up as one of my Top 5 Best Weekends ever!! 🙂 

Official race time of 56:05. I check the other times as well ~
666 – out of all the women in L.A.(why’d I have to pass that last chick..or why couldn’t I beat out the one in front of me?? LOL
2310 – out of 12,500 runners in L.A. WOO HOO!!
64108 – out of 312,500 of all the people who ran.
2.5km time – 5:15/km
5k – 5:45/km
7.5k – 5:49/km
I don’t think these are too bad for a 1st timer 😉

OMGosh! I had myself SO freaked out! On the way to the race..I would look at my watch and my heart rate would be at a constant 61-62, then I would have a thought of…Holy Crap!!! I’m about to run a 10K!!! I’d look down and it would shoot to about 79-80 LOL. I couldn’t eat anything so I downed 2 bottles of gatorade and a GU and a warm Arrowhead half cup of water.

My last 2 runs (6.2 & 7.7) my left hamstring & right hip muscle have given me trouble, but I pushed through them, then averaging 1:09 & 1:20, so I was going to line up at the 10:00 start line. I figure with the issues I’d had I would be completing it in 01:10:00 or more. But I didn’t, I went to the 9:00 marker..having a little pep talk with myself about not giving in and to start thinking positive, and then I began stretching like a mad dog. I went to the bathroom about 4-5 times, and then they started the pre-race show and everyone jam packed themselves into the 7:00 marker. BOO-HA-HA!!…I’m starting at the 7:00 marker 😉 After all the jabbering, the start gun was fire and WE WERE OFF!!

For the first 2.5 miles I was (to me) busting out a 8:39..right be fore the 5k marker I noticed I was at 9:01 and the most I went to was a 9:05. ~I just looked at the summary of my watch and it said my fastest pace was 7:48!  I am a Rockstar!..LOL. 😀 ~ When we rounded the corner to the .10 leg of the race I busted out all I could. Thinking to myself BREATH..BREATH..or their gonna be calling the ambulance on yur silly ass. LOL. I’ll have to admit along the way, I was thinking how am I gonna complete a freaking marathon at this pace constantly for 26.2 miles. Cuz my goal is to complete the marathon in as close to 4:00 as possible which would mean I would have to keep a constant 9:15 pace. The only thing I could come back to myself with is

T-R-A-I-N-I-N-G!

Anyway..that is my story and I’m sticking to it!! 😉

I’m diggin’ the course for the Nike+ Human Race in LA

I just checked out the course for the Human Race in LA. I’m totally diggin’ it!! There are 3 turnabouts. It’s like my training runs. I mostly do ‘out-n-backs’. I’m faster on the back than the out. LOL I still have no clue why they have it at night though. Probably cuz of the concert after, but this is the first race ‘I’ know of that is starting at night and not in the AM at o’Dark hundred 😀

We’ll see though. It’s my first 10k and I’m a little nervous..why I have absolutely no clue??? I don’t know any of these people. I’ll never see them again. Why does one get nervous before a race

To Heritage and back

Tried with no water bottle again, other than obviously getting cotton mouth. Everything was fine. Pace was still a little slow. Found out it is my hamstring that was/is bothering me behind my knee. Guess I should to rest it until Sunday for the Human Race

Experimental run

Wasn’t really motivated to run, but I did anyway and it ended up being great. Once again, not a great pace time, but I guess it’s ok considering from step one the tendon behind my left knee ached and my right quad was quite upset with me. They let me know it at each red light too LOL

 The experimental part was running without my water bottle. When I was walking at Rohr yesterday I noticed people doing the 3.1 round without them and they were fine. I think the water bottle thing was to make my body think I could run farther if I had it. SO I TOOK IT AWAY! Started running from my house and got all the way to Brandywine and my iPod crapped out. LMAO! So now I have no water bottle, no iPod, and my body is screaming for me to stop.  NOPE! Keep on running. (Although I felt like I was doing a faster pace than 11:00) went to my 3.1 marker and turned around and headed back. I was feeling great. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t really even feel tired.

When my watch beeped notifiying me of 5.0 miles, I told my son (who was scootering behind me). “Five miles Bud”..his response with sarcasm “yipee”. I was like “YA YIPEE!!”

1. I didn’t yell at him once or have to stop and wait for him to catch up. Yipee!

2. I was running 6.2 without a water bottle to pacify me. Yipee!

3. I was running without my iPod and ACTUALLY enjoying my run! Noticing what was around me and acknowleding the wind in my face. Yipee!

4. Even though my body issues were trying to stop me, I was having fun and I wasn’t winded. Yipee!

Run @ the Bay

Got to the bay 15 mins later than I wanted to, but I was fighting with my snooze button.

This was a rough run for me. My allergies kicked in real nice this morning. I was congested in my head and chest. Made it real fun to run. I was fighting with myself the whole way. I had to keep stopping cuz I would get fatigued from not being able to breath and somewhere along the way I got a minor bloody nose. But everytime I stopped it was only for less than a tenth of a mile. I still averaged a 10:30, which is better than I thought I did. I didn’t quit though..I accomplished my goal of 9 miles

Run @ Rohr

Nice run. Legs were a lil stiff from not being consistant. I’m not a fan of the ground texture though. It’s like a soft dirt/sand mixture. I’d rather run on asphalt but I enjoyed this run. 🙂

They played this song (words below) by the Foo Fighters in church this past Sunday. I just sat there and listened to the words and was amazed at how it TOTALLY applies to my life right now.

Things going on at work..completely crazy!! But..

Today for some reason..I woke up with an energy fire under my butt. Woo! That huge feeling that ‘EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK..EVERYTHING IS GOING TO WORK OUT..EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON’. This along with DREAM IT! PURSUE IT! STICK WITH IT! LIVE IT! is my new motto 😉

Ever had to YAK..on a run LOL

Note to self..

Do not eat kilbasa sandwiches even an hour before a run.

I was so busy doing things thru out the day, by the time it was 5:00 I hadn’t eaten anything, and I knew I was going to run at 6:00. The quickest thing I could think of was a kilbasa sandwich, but of course I couldn’t eat just ONE. I had to eat TWO.

Next thing I know it’s almost 6:00pm and I get my gear on, down a GU and 1/2 a gatorade, and once again start trying to get my crashed computer to load more than the FOUR freaking songs on my shuffle. I was starting to lose motivation..talking to myself about how important it really was to have more than four songs..it wasn’t I just need noise, so I said ‘SCREW IT’ again, and just went outside and headed out.

I got about a mile and a half into the run I started burping IT up, after a half mile or so I got tired of it, pulled off the side of the road, went around a bush,  “Took care of business”, swigged some gatorade and kept right on running. Ahhh..what a relief!

I’m not happy with the pace above, but I actually ran 2 miles farther than I planned on, and clocked myself on the way back doing 8:15-8:3o pace

Now that is mind over body 😉
