Second Chance

Tidbits of My Life

December 2008

Got in 8 to close up 2008

Wow what a year! I think the miles I’ve ran in the last 9 months is the most I have ever ran in my entire life! I can not believe I ran 357 miles and I lost 27 pounds.

Thank you Lulu, Greenking, Brad, Dave for your support! Thanks pushback for the comment back in March that initiated my running… “Why don’t you do Carlsbad??” with a response of “I can’t run 3 miles!!!”. Well..I CAN NOW! 😉

Peace and happy training in 2009 to all of you at Sweat365!! BE SAFE!

Interesting run..

Had a chance to run at my mom’s, but it wasn’t one of my funnest (is that a word? LOL) Anyway, against my better judgement I chose NOT to wear a hat on this run. About a mile and a half into my run my ponytail started to come undone. So I sucked my gut in stuck my bottle in my fanny pack strap and tried to redo my ponytail. Guess what..the freaking rubberband snapped apart. OH YEAH! I get to run the next 4.5 miles with my hair (that goes 3/4 of the way down my back) flapping in my face. It wasn’t so bad on the way out, but on the way back at about mile 4.6 I couldn’t stand it any longer. I got mad and stopped, turned off my GPS and then thought…what if this was my marathon. Would I just quit because my hair tie broke? NO!! So I turned my GPS back on and continued running.

Holiday work schedule has interferred with my workouts

I just looked on my blog (which is why this site is so awesome) and got SPANKED with the reality that my last workout was over a week ago!! I have been so swamped with working that I haven’t been able to run. I go in early and get off late, so I told my boss..”I’m going to give myself the rest of the year off”. She thought I was crazy since it’s “only next week” she said. HAHA!! That’s me!! Cra-Z!  😀

I’m going to my mom’s in La Quinta after work on Saturday. It’s about a 2 1/2 hour drive the way I drive. 😉 I will try to get something in on Sunday morning, but no guarantee. Why put in a couple miles when I can start official next year..heehee.

Anyway, hope ya’ll have an AWESOME Christmas!

No Arms ~ No Legs ~ No Worries

Do rainy days get you down..not today :-)

Over the past year rainy or cloudy days would get me down. But not this morning. After dropping off my son at school this morning, I sat in my car for about 15 minutes just listening to the rain hit my car. It made a crackling sound on the window and a thumping sound on the roof. I watched the little droplets hit the hood and spring up. It was so cool to watch and listen. As I was chatting with my Dad the power went out. Great! I gotta take a shower in the dark. Ever taken a show by braille? That was interesting. So today is definitely a hat day.

As I’ve said in a past post..rainy days are good for sitting with a cup of cocoa and watching a movie in front of a fire. Well last night I was 1/2 way there. I was going to run Banaga splits, but I have this little pinch in between my adductor and my quad. So I didn’t want to push it. So I decided to just stay in and make spaghetti for me and my son. Although I forgot the sauce so I had to go to the store. After we ate, we went upstairs to our room to watch a movie that I can (and have) watched over and over and over again. It’s “The Holiday”. So I had my movie and my cocoa (it was my Clif Recovery Coca, which by the way is outstanding. Tastes like normal cocoa just more protein), but no fire or rain ??? It decided to come a day late. LOL

Happy Rainy Day to ya’ll! Stay warm and dry 😉

Santa..I want a full body massage for Christmas

Who doesn’t?! Maybe just my legs, after all I have put them through over the past 9 months.

Always wanted one of these, but I’d be scared to go by myself. I am such a wussy! LOL

Wanted to do 10..almost turned back at 3..completed almost 12

Bottom mind wanted to run today and the body had to follow 😉

Quick 3 mile run

Puppy ‘Size’..I know not exercise related

But too cute not to post! I can’t wait to get my ‘size’ back 😉

This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you’ll wante to share this with your loved ones and special friends)!

“Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We’ve been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this, ” the mother told the volunteer.

“What is it she keeps asking for?” the volunteer asked.

“Puppy size!”, replied the mother.

“Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that’s what she’s looking for?”

“i know..we have seen most of them,” the mom said in frustration..

Just then Danielle came walking into the office.

“Well, did you find one?” asked her mom. “No, not this time,” Danielle said with sadness in her voice. “Can we come back on the weekend?”

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed

“You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there’s always a supply,” the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. “Don’t worry, I’ll find onethis weekend,” she said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long converstations with her.

They both felt she wa being too particular. “It’s theis weened or we’re not looking anymore,” Dad finally said in frustration.

“We don’t want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,” Mom added.

Sure enough, tey were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, Mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren’t permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brougth out and she held each one.

One by one she said, ” Sorry, but you’re not the one.”

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.

The volunteer opended the cage door and the little girl carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

“Mom, that’s it! i found the right puppy! He;s the one! I know it! She screamed with joy. “It’s the puppy size!”

“But it’s the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,” mom said.

“No not size..The SIGHS!” When I held him in my arms, he sighed,” she said.

“Don’t you remember? When i asked you one day what love told me love depends on the signs of your heart. Themore you love, the bigger the sigh!”

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the girl, she did a little of both.

“Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,” she said.

Then, holding the pupp up close to her face, she said,” Mom, he love me. I heard the sighs of his heart!”

Close your eyes for a momentand think about the love that makes you sigh. I not olnly find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a snset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gently brush of cool air on a hot day.

They inspire the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen; you will be surprised at what you hear

I hope your life is filled with SIGHS!!
